Our Apologies for the silence, we at Heal the Hood Project have been working nonstop to bring you our supporters the best in Edutainment! Following closely on the massive success the was the African Hip Hop Indaba presented by Sprite in August 2011 and African Battle Cry in December 2011 we are currently branching out into Hip Hop Theatre with our partners British Council - South Africa .
A selection of finalists from our events were invited to attend a grueling Sweat Week program in November 2011 at the Artscape Theatre in Cape Town to put together the beginings of a production which will broaden their horizons as dancers and expose them to the inner workings of the theatre. The production will have dancers from Johannesburg under the direction of DJ Switch and Matchboxology, Cape Town dancers under the direction of Emile Jansen,Heal the Hood Project and Jazzart Theatre, Zimbabwean dancers under the direction of Emile Jansen, Heal the Hood Project and Jibilika Dance Trust.
The crews will be joined by internationally acclaimed hip hop duo Clash 66 : Sebastien Ramirez (France) and Hyun-Jung Wang (Germany), who will also feature in the show.UK based currator Kwesi Johnson will be tasked with directing the overall production which will be showcased at the University of Johannesburg's Arts Centre and at the Artscape Theatre in Cape Town....more news to follow.
